I have ten extra pounds on my 5'1" frame that serve absolutely no purpose, other than to prove to the world that I have over-indulged and under-exercised. These pounds, realistically cover my whole body, but predominately take up residence in
an area that isn't always obvious to me - my rear-end. Occasionally I see a side view of myself and gasp (and the complete rear-view is always a treat!).
I have maintained periods of time without these extra pounds, most effectively through counting fat grams. I think that was effective because it required writing down everything I ate through a food log or journal and it inherently gave me reason to eat a low-fat diet. For me it was much easier than counting calories or "points". I can't explain wh7. Some things are easier and stick to different people. All systems of tracking food intake can result in the same goal of not over-eating.
There is an 80-20 Rule of Weight Loss that states 80% is achieved through diet and 20% through exercise. I was amazed the first time I heard this. I think I was hoping it was more like 50-50. As another goal this year I am going to focus on my diet and on writing down what I eat, making good, clean choices based on fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds.
